Chamber for Holding Sunshine

This sculpture embodies the rhythms and repetitions inherent in clay forming and basket weaving, reflecting the growth patterns found in nature. Calling attention to things that are golden yellow, such as wattle blossom, cockatoo crests, egg yolks, fields of canola, and banana lollies, the artist invites us to appreciate the simple joys in life.

I measure clay with my fingers and leave the impressions of my knuckles to create intricately assembled ceramic vessels. Drawing inspiration from the rich history of ceramics, my technique is a contemporary evolution of ancient terra sigillata, resulting in a luminous depth of colour.
