‘River Bodies – elemental encounters between clay, fire, air and water’ is a solo exhibition of new work assembles sculpture, ceramics, sound, moving image and fieldnotes to respond materially and conceptually to my experience of summer bushfires and swimming in nature.

Evolving from my doctoral studies this solo exhibition exemplifies research into ancient surface treatments, slow burn and once-firing methods, pursuing an approach to ceramics that is both carbon responsible in its firing and carbon explicit in its material outcome.

This new work is site specific and embodied; affectively dwelling in issues of climate crisis, in connection to mythical human and non-human stories and in deep relation to a river site.
